We started out our annual United Way Day of Caring at the Decatur Senior Center, where we trimmed the shrubs and bushes that help to make the center so attractive. It took us about an hour and a half of hard work.

Our second project was to clean up the yard of an elderly couple. When we first got there, the amount of work that needed to be done was somewhat overwhelming. They asked us to clean up the ivy that was overtaking the front yard. There were also several tree stumps hidden under all the ivy and pine needles, and Reggie with Professional Vegetation Management took care of the stumps with his heavy equipment.

He was also able to clean up the invasive ivy with his heavy equipment in just a few minutes, when we weren’t sure we were going to be able to successfully complete the project by hand. Reggie volunteered his time and heavy equipment to help clean up the yard. We were so thankful for his rescue!
