We are pleased to announce that due to the overwhelming generosity of Daikin employees, vendors, and contractors, we were able to raise $23,663 for the Marine Toys for Tots bicycle program! With that amount, we were able to purchase 428 bicycles that will be given to less fortunate children in our area on Christmas morning. This year, at the request of the donation agencies, we were able to support their need for the larger 24”/26” bicycles in addition to the smaller bicycles normally provided.
Daikin has been supporting this program for approximately 17 years. The first year we donated 14 bicycles to the Marines and as you can see, it has grown tremendously! Over the years, we have raised well over $103,000 and purchased over 2,575 bicycles. This is a great program that the Marines sponsor and we are honored to be able to help with it.
A special thank you to Academy Sports in Decatur for their hard work assembling and staging the bicycles for us. This is a monumental task for them during a very busy time of year and their hard work has not gone unnoticed. The employees and management team continue to be a tremendous help with this program year after year!
We would also like to give a special thank you to the 75 vendors and contractors that donated to this year’s effort. In addition, a special shout out to SP&J and their employees who helped play a big role in transporting all of the bicycles from Academy Sports to our collection point at B1 control room.
