DAIKIN AMERICA ANNOUNCES PLANT EXPANSION WITH NEW PRODUCTION CAPABILITY
Daikin America, Inc., the second largest fluoropolymer supplier in the US, announces the completion of its most recent expansion at the Decatur, AL manufacturing plant. This investment will employ a new process enabling the production of OPTOOL(TM) DSX, a fluorinated anti-fouling coating used world-wide for coating glass surfaces subject to fingerprints (sebum), oil and moisture.
Production in this new area of the plant became fully operational in January 2010 and may result future employment opportunities.
This plant expansion is in response to global increase in demand for touch panel and mobile device operating systems, the market share for which is expected to increase 2.5 fold by 2015.
OPTOOL(TM)DSX has excellent oil and water repellency properties as well as the ability to repel against fingerprinting in the display surfaced treated with the product. The superior bonding mechanism allows for treatment longevity with a coating thickness of only 10 nano meters, 0.00001 millimeter, causing no interruption in the optical property of the display unit. This application is also widely used for treating eyeglasses.
